Most things people ask about countle, answered. If something's missing, email us at mektistudio@gmail.com and we'll add it.
countle is a daily browser game about estimating quantity. You see a field of dots for two seconds, then guess how many were there. One round per day. No accounts. See About for the longer answer.
Each round is scored from 0 to 500. The closer your guess is to the actual number, the higher your score. The error is measured on a logarithmic scale — being off by 5 when the answer is 10 is penalized more than being off by 5 when the answer is 200. See How to Play for details.
Most casual players score between 250 and 400 on their first day. Above 450 is excellent. A perfect 500 is rare but happens. Don't worry about hitting it on day one.
Because that's what makes it a daily ritual rather than a grind. If you could play unlimited rounds, the leaderboard would be a measure of free time, not perception. One round, same puzzle for everyone, same fairness.
Two seconds is just long enough to take in the whole field, but not long enough to count individually. The game tests intuition, not arithmetic. Longer would defeat the point. Shorter would feel arbitrary.
Yes. Everyone in the world gets the same dots on the same calendar day (UTC). This makes leaderboard comparison fair across continents.
Yes. countle works on phones, tablets, and desktops. The visual feel is slightly different on smaller screens, but the puzzle itself — the count and the timing — is identical.
You can launch countle from any Discord voice channel as an Activity. Your friends in the same channel play the same daily puzzle, and scores are shown on a server-scoped leaderboard. There are no ads in the Discord version.
After your round ends, click the Submit button on the result screen. Choose a name (12 characters max), and your score is added to today's leaderboard.
We store the minimum needed to run the leaderboard: your chosen name, your score, the time of submission, and a random ID. No email, no account. See Privacy for the full picture.
Yes, on countle.fun there are Google AdSense ads to keep the site free. There are no ads when you play as a Discord Activity. The Privacy and Terms pages never load ads.
No, by design. The point is the daily ritual — one shot, no second chances. We may add a practice mode in the future, but the daily round will always be a one-shot.
Maybe. We're thinking about it. If we ship a sibling game (testing other senses, like timing or audio), it'll live on the same site so you don't have to track multiple URLs.
