Privacy.

countle respects your privacy. This page explains what data we collect, why, and what you can do about it. In plain English.

What we collect

On your device (localStorage)

We store these locally in your browser:

This data never leaves your device. Clearing your browser data removes it.

On our server (Supabase)

When you submit your score to the global leaderboard, we store:

We do not store your IP address, email, or any account details. There is no account system.

When you play as a Discord Activity

If you launch countle from inside a Discord voice channel, we additionally use Discord's official OAuth flow to identify you. Discord shows you exactly what we're asking for before any data is shared. We request:

When you submit a score from a Discord Activity, the leaderboard row stores your Discord user ID, Discord display name, and server ID alongside the regular score and timestamp.

We do not access your DMs, friends list, email, full Discord profile, voice/video, or any other Discord data. The OAuth scopes we request are limited to identify and guilds.members.read.

Discord-provided data is used only to power the per-server leaderboard. We do not use it for analytics, advertising, profiling, training models, selling to third parties, or anything else. This is required by Discord's Developer Policy and we agree with it.

Server logs (Cloudflare)

Like all websites, our hosting provider Cloudflare keeps short-term server logs — typically IP address, user-agent, request path. These are kept briefly for security and abuse prevention, not for tracking.

How long we keep your data

Leaderboard entries (name, score, timestamp, and any attached Discord identifiers) are retained as long as countle is operating, or until you ask us to delete them. We do not auto-expire entries today, but if a leaderboard becomes too large to host efficiently we may aggregate or remove older entries.

Discord-specific identifiers (Discord user ID, display name, server ID) are deleted alongside the leaderboard entry they're attached to. If you ask us to delete your entry, the Discord identifiers go with it. If we ever stop running countle as a Discord Activity, we delete all stored Discord-derived data within 30 days.

Server logs from Cloudflare are typically rotated within a few weeks.

How we protect your data

We use commercially reasonable measures to protect your data from unauthorized access:

No system is 100% secure, so don't submit a name you'd be uncomfortable seeing publicly on a leaderboard.

What we don't collect

Ads and cookies

countle is free, and to keep it that way the gameplay pages on countle.fun are funded by Google AdSense. AdSense uses cookies — but only to the extent you allow them.

When you first visit countle.fun, a cookie banner gives you two choices with equal weight:

Until you make a choice, we run in the safe default — Google's Consent Mode v2 keeps personalization, ad cookies, and analytics storage in denied state. So no tracking cookies are set before you opt in.

You can change your mind at any time using the Reset cookie preferences button at the bottom of this page. You can also opt out of personalized advertising globally via Google's Ads Settings or YourOnlineChoices.

Ads are not shown when you play countle as a Discord Activity — Discord's content policy blocks third-party ads inside Activities, and we honour that.

The Privacy and Terms pages themselves never load ads or set ad cookies.

Change your choice: if you want to switch between personalized and non-personalized ads, click the button below — it'll clear your saved choice and show the cookie banner again next time you visit countle.fun.

Third parties

countle relies on these services to function:

All four are professional providers operating under GDPR-compliant data processing agreements.

Your rights

countle aims to comply with major privacy laws including the EU and UK GDPR, California's CCPA / CPRA, and Brazil's LGPD. Wherever you live, you have the right to:

For countle, this mostly means asking us to delete your leaderboard entry. Email us at mektistudio@gmail.com with your name and approximate score (or your Discord username if you played as an Activity), and we'll act on the request within 30 days.

Children

countle is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you are a parent and believe your child has submitted data, contact us and we'll remove it.
